I’m 54 and this explains why collagen as a supplement makes me feel better after a workout. It’s been the last year that its made a real difference. I’m warming up at least 10 minutes but sometimes I’m more impatient than others and when I take 15 minutes plus the workout feels better from the get go. I’ve had nagging injuries the last year that have been new. Nothing serious, but enough to make certain movements at heavier weights difficult. They are all getting better as I up my collagen intake and I am careful with movements.
As a side note, I’ve started using products with collagen for my skincare and seeing a huge difference there as well.
Collagen supplement - as long as it’s hydrolyzed 1 & 3 bovine collagen peptides (according to my coach).
Skincare - I’m using a bunch of Korean brands. Some well known, some not, but my favorite right now is Sungboon Editor. They have a collagen serum and spray that are awesome. Also trying some PDRN products too which seem to be helping.
At 78 and still playing pickleball most days, this tracks with what I feel in my own body. My muscles are usually fine — it’s the tissue around them that needs the extra time. A little movement in the morning, a real warm‑up, and slow pressure work make a huge difference. Like Rebecca, I take a Collagen daily. It's supposed to be good for tissue repair. I also take a protein supplement to help limit the loss of muscle mass.
Great article to remind me of what's going on with my body. I've had a frozen shoulder for nearly 2 years (it's much better than it was), and I need to continue to move it -- because when I do, it feels better (surprise, surprise).
I'd also like to thank @Rebecca for her comment about collagen. I used to add it to my smoothies regularly, but somehow lost track of doing that. Will begin again.
At 85, 20mins full body mobility moving every joint before I get out of bed starts my day.
Fantastic! I agree and do this daily. Keep inspiring others. Good work.

Excellent article.

Great article. I’ve noticed if I do hip mobility before running it makes the first mile so much better- less stiffness.
So true! I help my over 40 clients try to understand this is a big part of their mobility issues. Great read!
Excellent advice 👌
